Solution Brief

Instant Cloud Access

Simplify cloud connectivity and deliver it as a branded, high-margin service.

Overview

Your customers want private access to AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. If you don’t offer it today, every request ends with a referral to someone else, and the customer relationship goes with it. If you do offer it, every new customer means custom configuration, another cloud router to license, and expensive cloud infrastructure to host. Either way, cloud connectivity costs more to deliver than it should.

MaiaEdge lets service providers deliver private cloud connectivity without hosting cloud infrastructure or configuring BGP. With a Path Border Controller (PBC) and a connection to Equinix, you can give every customer private, deterministic access to multiple clouds under your own brand.

How It Works

The MaiaEdge PBC family deploys at your network edge. The Path Computation Engine (PCE), a cloud-native orchestrator, computes deterministic paths across PBCs and automates provisioning over fiber or Dedicated Internet Access (DIA). Native API integration with Equinix provisions AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute and Google Cloud Interconnect straight from the MaiaEdge portal. No BGP, no cloud routers, no manual VLAN coordination.

Whether you are adding cloud access for the first time or simplifying a service you already offer, there are three routes to market.

Three routes to market

  1. Private Wavelength

Deploy a PBC at your network edge and run a wave to your Equinix port. That one port serves all of your customers, each with its own bandwidth and service tier. Customers order cloud connectivity from your branded portal while MaiaEdge automates provisioning. No BGP, no cloud routers. Each new customer activates in minutes.

  2. Ethernet over DIA

No fiber to Equinix yet? Deploy a PBC at your network edge and another at the nearest Equinix PoP, and create an encrypted Layer 2 path over any transport. Start earning cloud revenue now instead of waiting 90 to 120 days for a physical interconnect, then move to fiber when demand justifies it.

  3. Partner

No Equinix port yet? Use someone else’s. Partner with a PBC-enabled provider and stand up an instant NNI to their network over any transport. Your customers reach the cloud through the partner’s port without ever seeing the partner. You sell cloud access under your own brand, set the price and keep the customer relationship.

Business Outcomes

Simplify Operations and Improve Margins

Traditional cloud on-ramp architectures need a virtual router for every customer that connects to more than one cloud, which adds licensing cost and configuration work with each new customer. MaiaEdge removes the virtual router from most multi-cloud deployments. Many customers share one Equinix port, with bandwidth and service tier enforced per tenant, so your cost stays fixed while revenue grows with every customer you add.

ACG Research found that delivering cloud on-ramp with MaiaEdge lowers five-year total cost of ownership by 76%.1

For providers with their own backbone, MaiaEdge also eliminates costly Equinix long-haul transport fees by routing traffic across your backbone to the nearest Equinix on-ramp.

Gain End-to-End Visibility and SLA Enforcement

MaiaEdge automates deterministic paths and gives you hop-by-hop telemetry from the customer site, across partner networks and through Equinix, into the cloud. Set SLAs with confidence and back them with data.

Secure Every Path

Every path between PBCs is encrypted at line rate with AES-256-GCM, and each customer’s traffic is isolated from every other customer’s.

Maintain Brand and Pricing Control

Sell cloud access as your own product. Customers order through your portal, at prices you set, on your invoice. Equinix stays in the background, visible only if you choose to disclose it, and the customer relationship never moves to a third party.

Expand Beyond Cloud Access

With an Equinix connection in place, you can offer customers more than cloud access: any service available in Equinix Fabric. Connect customers to SaaS applications, data storage and AI clouds over the same infrastructure you use for cloud connectivity.

Monetize Spare Capacity

List your Equinix connection in the MaiaEdge Marketplace, where other providers with PBCs can find it. Partners reach the cloud through your port under their own brand, and your spare capacity becomes wholesale revenue. ACG Research models nearly 10x wholesale revenue growth over five years.1
