About MaiaEdge

Three decades of connecting networks.

Our Story

We've spent our careers building the infrastructure that lets networks talk to each other. Session Border Controllers at Acme Packet. Intelligent routing at 128 Technology. We've seen what happens when networks connect well, and what breaks when they don't.

MaiaEdge exists because we believe network operators shouldn't lose automation, visibility, and control the moment traffic crosses their edge. Today, extending service beyond your own footprint means months of manual integration and blind spots once packets leave your network. That's not a technical limitation. It's a missing layer of infrastructure. We're building that layer.

Our Vision

An operator-owned Federated Private Network where any provider can deliver private connectivity to any organization, anywhere, instantly, with full visibility and control across every hop.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is MaiaEdge?

MaiaEdge is a network infrastructure company making private Ethernet programmable. Its cloud-managed hardware, the Path Border Controller (PBC), lets network operators extend secure, private Ethernet over any IP transport and interconnect with partner networks in minutes, without new fiber builds or lengthy negotiations.

PBCs deploy alongside existing infrastructure and are managed from the MaiaEdge cloud, where the Path Computation Engine (PCE) finds the best path and automates provisioning. MaiaEdge was founded by the team behind Acme Packet and 128 Technology.

What is Federated Private Networking?

Federated Private Networking, pioneered by MaiaEdge, lets independent network operators interconnect and extend private connectivity across each other's networks, while each keeps control of its own infrastructure, policies, and customers.

Today, connecting with a partner network takes 60 to 90 days of LOAs, VLAN coordination, and routing setup, and visibility stops where your own network ends. With Federated Private Networking, operators connect to partners through virtual cross-connects over any transport in minutes, without needing to be in the same facility, and reach new sites and services across partner networks. They also keep hop-by-hop visibility and SLA control across network boundaries.

What problem does MaiaEdge solve?

An operator's private Ethernet services stop at the edge of its physical footprint. To deliver private connectivity to a customer or a cloud beyond that edge, it has two options: build new infrastructure, which is slow and expensive, or partner with another provider, which means months of negotiating and manually setting up a network-to-network interface (NNI) before the customer can be served.

At the same time, the number of places customers need to reach is growing faster than any single network operator can build. AI infrastructure is spreading across more sites, and enterprises want private access to multiple clouds. MaiaEdge lets operators extend private Ethernet to any site over the transport already there and interconnect with partners in minutes, so they can serve customers beyond their footprint and launch new services without new builds.

Is MaiaEdge a NaaS provider like Megaport or Equinix?

No. Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) providers such as Megaport and Equinix Fabric own and operate their own interconnection fabrics and sell connectivity services directly to enterprises. When an operator can't reach a destination itself, its customer can end up buying from the NaaS provider instead, and the operator loses that relationship.

MaiaEdge is a network infrastructure company. Operators deploy MaiaEdge on their own networks to deliver NaaS-like capabilities themselves: instant provisioning, partner interconnection, and self-service ordering, all on their own network and under their own brand. The customer relationship, pricing, and margin stay with the operator.

Is MaiaEdge an SD-WAN company?

No. SD-WAN connects enterprise branch sites at Layer 3 and steers application traffic across them. MaiaEdge delivers SD-Ethernet, which gives network operators programmable private Ethernet at Layer 2 across sites, partner networks, and clouds. The two work together: an operator can run a managed SD-WAN service over a MaiaEdge connection. The MaiaEdge team previously built Session Smart Routing at 128 Technology (acquired by Juniper Networks). See how SD-Ethernet compares to SD-WAN →

Who is MaiaEdge for?

MaiaEdge is built for service providers, data center operators, and AI infrastructure operators.

Service providers, including fiber operators, carriers, and MSPs, use MaiaEdge to extend private Ethernet services beyond their physical footprint and interconnect with partner providers in minutes instead of months. Off-net services become as seamless to deliver as on-net. New services like cloud on-ramps can launch without hosting expensive infrastructure or configuring complex routing protocols.

Data center operators, including colocation providers, use MaiaEdge to offer tenants on-demand interconnection. Tenants order connections to other tenants, partner networks, and the major clouds through a self-service portal. The facility gets the interconnection fabric tenants expect, without the capital and time a traditional build requires.

AI infrastructure operators, including neoclouds and GPU cloud providers, use MaiaEdge to connect GPU clusters across facilities with deterministic, private Ethernet paths instead of public internet routes. They can give enterprise customers a direct, private on-ramp into their infrastructure, bring new sites online in minutes, and see latency, jitter, and packet loss on every path.

Who founded MaiaEdge, and where is it based?

MaiaEdge was co-founded by CEO Abilash Menon and CRO Tim Ziemer and is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts. Executive Chairman Andy Ory and CFO Patrick MeLampy, who co-founded Acme Packet and 128 Technology, serve on the board.

Who are MaiaEdge's investors?

MaiaEdge raised a $20 million Series A in February 2026, led by its executive management team alongside G20 Ventures, with participation from individual investors and employees.
